life does get interesting.  since my last post, Mom died, dealt with all that entails, cleaned out her apartment and started a new stage in my life, being motherless.
Bounced back from that life lesson and continued down life's path.  11 months later Dad died.  You realize that immortality does not exist, but are you ever prepared for those kinds of life altering events?  I think not.
Just as I'm thinking that nothing else can happen, my 21 year old nephew becomes seriously ill and passes away too!  I know God does not give us more than we can handle, but seriously.  My grief is nothing to that of my brother and sister-in-law.  We have keep vigil at the hospital for a week, surrounded by family and friends.  The grace that my brothers' family has shown is amazing!

But life this last year and a half have not been all sorrow and sadness.  I have changed jobs! Started work at the local quilt shop that I have been having quilts quilted at for years.  This has been the most liberating thing that I have done in some time!  I now go to a job that is new and fresh every day with people that I really have a connection with.

I have also renewed my friendship with God.  Not that it was lost, just buried in the back of the closet somewhere.

Now, on to brighter things.  The quilt shop that I work at, Kessler Kreations, in Hillsboro KS is a full service shop.  We offer lots of fabric choices, custom quilt construction, long arm quilting, hand quilting, quilt finishing services and also are a drop off for alterations, sewing machine repair and computer repair.
The shop also has consignors for antiques, baby items, gift items and ideas, used book sales, finished quilts, re-purposed furniture and decorative pieces, cards and local high school and college items.  We sell baby blankets, boppy pillows, crib comfort sets, cute onsie clothing and hair accessories.
Check out our presence on Facebook at Kessler Kreations.  We are just getting started good with that endeavor. But keep watching, we are posting projects and events often.

It's been quite a road that I have been down these last few weeks.  On July 30, 2012 my mother went in for what we thought would be "routine" surgery of the colon.  On August 18th she passed away from complications.  So I spent a week getting her apartment cleaned out and all her things relocated.  Thank goodness for my family and friends.  We buried her on the 25th.  Then settled down to the reality of the situation.  Life goes on... Now I'm back to the sewing machine.  It took me a whole day just to clean the sewing room up so that I could even find my machine or tables!  All is well again and I'm back to working on the QOV/VFW quilts.  I have several quilts worth of blocks gathered and 3-4 quilt tops ready to sandwich and get to the longarmer.  Forward Ho!  Time to get moving.

Have been working on the VFW/QOV project.  I now have a longarmer on board.  Hope to get another one or two, but will have to wait and see.  The ladies Auxiliary is ready for a sew-in.
Got blocks yesterday from a Stashbuilders partner.  Sew it looks like I will be moving along with this project nicely.

It's been weeks since I posted anything, I know.  So here is the scoop.  I volunteered to make QOV type quilts for the VFW that I'm a ladies auxiliary member.
I will be making 50 quilt for the veterans by Veteran's Day 2013.  I am following the QOVF guidelines.  I have several ladies helping me out with piecing the tops.  The LQS is providing batts at cost + s&h.  Less then $10.00 ea.  I am still looking for longarmers to quilt the quilts for free.
My SIL is coordinating the Ladies Auxiliary, by collecting material and cutting fabric.  I have 2 LQS helping with getting the word out and being drop off sites for tops and materials.
Today I will get the 2nd quilt top done.  I need 3 quilts for the WWII veterans and a membership quilt by this Veteran's Day.  I'm sure that I will make that one. And hope that with volunteers I can get the rest done in time for 2013.

Will Keep you posted.

Yesterday was quite the day.  Started out by taking my Mother to Et cetera shop to look for puzzles.  Found the puzzles and I got some bargains too.  Then off to the cemetery at Sunnydale.  Talked about some cleanup that needed to happen after Memorial Day.  Finished the trip off by stopping by Wal-Mart for a few groceries.
Later in the day I took Wayne's Mother to the cemetery.  I know that she has days that she can't really remember what is what.  She agreed to go to the cemetery but couldn't place who was there.  I finally think that she understood that we were decorating Wilbert's grave.  Kind of a sad day.  She IS 92 years young.  I hope to make the most of what time we have left.  And that she can remember most/some of it.

OK, so I'm a little slow with this blog thing.  That said I have been busy with quilty stuff.  I finished my bed runner from the Hwy 56 shop hop.  Have the back cut and all is in bag ready for the long armer.  Have worked on three, count 'em 3, different Block Lottery Block swaps.  Made 4 or more of each block.  Congrats to the winners of those BLB swaps!
Have been working on a table topper with the Monday Quilt Group.  Spent some quality time unsewing and fixing toppers last night.  But the results were well worth it.

This is the quilt top from the Bullseye block swap on Stashbuilders.
Here is the finished quilt.  I just love the way it turned out.
